The Eco Friendly Living Co rolls out a local refill delivery service to encourage Chorley households to reduce their single-use plastic consumption
In an attempt to help Chorley households reduce their single-use plastic consumption, Joanne Maclachlan, from Chorley, has just launched a brand new doorstep refill service of eco-friendly products. “Covering the local area, we provide a door drop delivery service of refillable eco-friendly products, supplied in reusable glass bottles. At each delivery, we will collect your empty bottles and bring you fresh refills. Just like the milkman!” The products available include laundry liquids, cleaning products and personal care products and can simply be ordered on their website.
Joanne is the founder of The Eco Friendly Living Co, an online store that encourages families to ditch the single-use plastic and switch to eco-friendly and sustainable alternatives. The business launched just one year ago, as the UK headed into their first lockdown so Joanne’s first year in business has not been as originally planned.
“As well as being able to ship both nationally and internationally thanks to the website, we had originally planned to spend every weekend at local markets and hosting pop up shops, but obviously, covid has meant that hasn’t been possible so instead we decided to take the business in a different direction and bring the products directly to our customers! The pandemic has opened a lot of people’s eyes to environmental problems, and we have lots of customers that have now joined us on a journey to reduce our households plastic consumption.”
A recent survey carried out by the business found that 64% of people are wanting to reduce their single use plastic consumption with 67% stating they already use eco-friendly products. That sees a huge increase from the year before where just 38% of people had started to seek out eco-friendly products.
“Many people will have seen the David Attenborough and Seaspiracy documentaries and so they will be aware of the damage we have done to our planet but it is not too late to reverse this. We just need to act and think more sustainably. My mission is to change the way people shop and make them think twice over the products they are purchasing. We have over 150 products on the website and our new refill round should make living more sustainably easier to access and affordable for lots of local people.”
Refillable products can be ordered through the website and are then delivered on Covid secure doorstep deliveries twice weekly. At the same time, empty bottles from previous deliveries will also be collected.
